Last month Qnotes reported that the possible presence of water on the moon has been detected by three different spacecraft - India's Chandrayaan-1 and NASA's Cassini and Deep Impact probes. Now NASA has followed up on that possibility by launching LCROSS (Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite) to the moon to search for water ice. LCROSS created twin impacts on the moon's surface early Friday morning at approximately 4:30am PDT. Scientists will analyze data from the spacecraft's instruments to assess whether water ice is present. Scientists will report what they know at a Post Impact News Conference at 7:00 a.m. PDT / 10:00 a.m. EDT on NASA TV.
