An international team of researchers has successfully developed an artificial leaf that can convert sunlight into energy. The team firstly simulated the extremely efficient bacteria light antennae by modifying chlorophyll from an alga. Using the alga’s properties, the ‘artificial leaf’ was structured into a light antenna. The future vision for the project includes artificial leaves produced in nano-scale that can use sunlight to generate power and clean energy. The model based of the semi-synthetic light harvesters based on NMR with the symmetry characteristics in line with powder diffraction measurements.
